Weddings in Matera
Matera is a small jewel of our Italy and one of the most suggestive in the world; it is no coincidence that it has been a UNESCO heritage site for years, it was the European capital of culture in 2019 and hosts many international events. This has made it very famous in recent years and also very attractive for tourism and for the destination wedding sector in Basilicata.
Basilicata is certainly not one of the most famous regions abroad and perhaps for this reason it has retained its authenticity that we really like. Many foreign spouses are increasingly choosing this scenario to celebrate their destination weddings in Italy and it is undeniable that a walk among the Sassi is always very fascinating, albeit a bit demanding for a bride with heels and a train.
I am lucky enough to live in Altamura, therefore close to the border of Puglia and Basilicata, and I am much closer to Matera than to Bari, both in terms of distance and territorial culture; the Murgia is the territory in which the two cities were born and developed and many traditions are shared between the two cities. Over the years I have worked many times in Matera and I know the whole Sassi district well; I have worked with spouses from Matera, with foreign spouses who have chosen this place for their "destination wedding", with couples of "from Matera" who live and work elsewhere.
Each time it was a discovery of new details, scenarios and landscapes.
